The wife got into a spot of trouble the other day, when she was out and about in her finest. A woman came up to her and struck up a conversation about the jacket she was wearing, gushing over it and demanding to know where she got it from. Rayne produced a business card and handed it to her, because hey- we’re business people, and there’s a reason we always look our best when we leave the house. However hen the woman inquired as to why Rayne had the business cards and she was informed that it was because Rayne was the store manager, this is what she had to say;
“Oh well never mind then I wouldn’t want to buy something from someone that looks like you.”
Because you know, people like us can’t ever hope to be successful right? Uh, wrong.
Rayne posted an amusing status on her personal facebook page the other night which gave me a good laugh, and I thought it was worth sharing (Share the status Here) on the business page.
How to dress for your shape: are you human-shaped? play up your confidence and natural sex appeal by wearing whatever the fuck you want.
Life Tip: As the weather gets warmer, continue to wear whatever the fuck you want. Flaunt everything or keep it cool under cover. Dress to make yourself feel rad.
How to get a bikini body:put a bikini on your body
Want sexy own-the-beach summer legs? shave, or don’t because they’re your fucking legs.
It’s created an interesting discourse amongst the shares, one of which got a great debate going which I couldn’t help but read through over my morning IV drip of coffee. I post as a direct quote, person not named and don’t blame me for the typos.
Some people should not just be fluanting it, they should stop to consider others instead of eye raping them with hippo hips and big stomaches being put out on display!!!
I’m not even going to touch on the subject of someone using the word “rape” to describe a trivial matter in the grand scheme of things, because that’s just….. going to get me off track in a hurry and I won’t be back to the topic at hand for a while.
HOWEVER. Back to the topic at hand.
Doing a quick browse of the news we’ve got corporations closing down and laying everyone off, hostage sieges ending badly, mass murderers on trial, fires destroying homes and lives, famine, torture, disease, North Korea itchy on a trigger finger to launch another World War….
I guess what I’m trying to say is that there’s bigger shit out there, you know? If the worst thing that can happen to you in a day is that someone walks into your field of vision wearing something you *personally* don’t like….. You’re doing ok.
Show of hands who here gets screamed at by dickheads in passing cars? I cop it all the time, so does Rayne. “Freak”, “Dyke”, “Cunt” are the top of the list.
But you know, I don’t get up in the morning thinking to myself “HM. How am I going to dress today that will cop me the least amount of abuse? How can I stifle myself so that I will impress those assholes who like to do burnouts and call me every name under the sun?” If I were to start thinking like that, well.
You know there is absolutely no way to win that battle right? There are always. ALWAYS going to be haters. You can try your hardest to impress the societal norms but there is no way to keep up with that shit. It’s exhausting.
The quicker you accept that, the quicker you learn to fight back. That is by no means an easy task, I’m not fluffing it about here, it’s hard as fuck. Because you are making the active choice to step into your self, own it, and WORK. IT. It’s a long process, it’s an evolving process, and it never, ever stops. But that’s the beauty of it. If you are happy with your self and you’re not harming anyone else with your choices, who gives a flying fuck about anyone else’s opinion?
Alternatively, you may be in the midst of a transitional point in your life with a change in location, a change in finances, a change in weight, a change in gender, a change in self. All of that is completely fine, and there is nothing wrong with being in that state of transition. But accept it as a state of fluidity, motion, If you hate where you are right now and succumb to it, it makes the process of change so much more difficult. Acknowledge that it is merely a step in the process, own it, and move on.
It is the hardest lesson to learn and one that means you are fighting against an entire society that is out to make you despise yourself, but jesus tap dancing christ it’s freeing when you break the chains.
Seriously. The path to “IDGAF What you think” is the path to greatness.
Which brings me onto my next point, about the difference between “I don’t care, I’ll wear whatever I want!” Verses “I DO care, I’ll wear what I want.” But that’s a story for another day.
